Symposium Series Week 5: Keep Calm and Carry On
October 29, 2020
9:00 am - 10:15 am
Location: Zoom
Each Thursday morning during the month of October FPA NEO will be hosting a webinar as part of the Symposium Series 2020! We hope you will join us for all or some of the sessions!
Speaker: Strider Elass
About the session: The longest economic recovery ever recorded came to a quick close in early 2020 as COVID-19 and mandated shutdowns wrought havoc on the US economy. What followed was the steepest, shortest recession in history, leading to unprecedented fiscal and monetary action. There is no shortage of worries — the looming US presidential election, massive debt and deficits, unprecedented government spending, high unemployment, among many others. Strider will help put these into perspective and show why First Trust believes the next 10 years will be some of the best ever.
About the speaker: Strider is a Senior Economist and is part of the First Trust Economics Team that Bloomberg has ranked as one of the top forecasters of the U.S. economy over the past several years. At First Trust, Strider is responsible for analyzing economic indicators, writing economic commentaries and producing articles for the First Trust Economics Blog. Out of a panel of over 100 economists, investment strategists and housing market analysts, the First Trust Economics Team was awarded the “Crystal Ball Award” by Zillow® in partnership with Pulsenomics in 2012, 2013, 2014 and again most recently in 2015 for accurate home price predictions. Cogent’s 2017 Survey of Advisors rated First Trust’s thought leadership material as number one for most read and most shared by financial professionals with colleagues or clients.* Strider was instrumental in researching for the book, It’s Not As Bad As You Think, published in 2009 by First Trust’s Chief Economist, Brian Wesbury. Beyond his research responsibilities, Strider speaks regularly at broker and retail events around the country and abroad. Strider received a BA in Business and Economics from Wheaton College. He is currently a candidate in the CFA Program.
